2013

Government introduces the concept of Silica City to address Georgetown congestion and promote inland growth

Site Selection & Studies
2014–2015

Location identified along Soesdyke-Linden Highway. Preliminary feasibility and environmental studies initiated

Master Plan Drafting
2016–2018

Urban design framework prepared, covering zoning, infrastructure, housing, and economic sectors

Infrastructure & EIA Planning
2019–2020

Engineering layouts completed for roads, drainage, and utilities. Environmental Impact Assessments carried out.

Project Launch & Partnerships
2021–2022

Silica City project officially launched. Government engages local and international partners (e.g., University of Miami, MIT, Dar Group).
